The Principal’s Message
Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya started out on a journey with a mere eight students on the 19 th of March 1919 and has grown to accommodate 5800 students, offering educational facilities from grade 1 to 13.
The Advanced Level students have opportunities to study in the streams of science, mathematics, commerce, arts and aesthetics. The school offers a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities as well. As the largest Buddhist school in the south, our daughters have shown their colours not only at the national level but also in the global arena, thereby bringing infinite glory to mother Sanghamitta.
I would also like to make this an opportunity to express my gratitude to my fellow staff, for the marvelous job done in bringing out the best of our daughters in every possible way. Also I must not forget to thank the past principals and teachers of our school for making this institution what it is today.
Furthermore I must mention that the School Development Society, the Old Girls’ Association and the non-academic staff deserve the credit for the tremendous achievements of our daughters.
And of course, I cannot forget the teachers who undertook the task of re-launching our web page and the dear daughters who worked for days on end to make this a reality.
Finally I would like to say that with the help of my present staff, I strive to make an intelligent, educated and well-disciplined generation of Sanghamittians for the benefit of this country. They will be able to face the challenges in the ever-changing world successfully as they are creative, talented and spiritually rich.
