Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya Galle

Julia Morris, the former head teacher of Kineton High school, United Kingdom has passed away. Kineton High school has been Sanghamitta’s partner school in UK, for several years. She took over as head of Kineton in 2002 and retired in 2014 to work as a freelance consultant in Education. Julia expanded the horizons of Kineton and Sanghamitta joining hands with our school administration, both culturally and geographically by creating links and exchange visits. A memorial service also was held at St. Peter’s church, Kineton on 20th January. Julia Morris passed away on New Year Day after celebrating her last Christmas, following a battle with a cancer.

Condolence message from the madam principal of Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Mrs. H. Chandani Udakumbura

I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of Julia Morris, the former head teacher of Kineton High School, UK. Her death has left a deep sorrow in all our hearts. She worked closely with Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya in a great manner during the exchange visits for several years, to create a global link between Kineton and Sanghamitta. She created an excellent path for my students to expose to the global knowledge. Even she is not around us anymore, we will always have her memories in our hearts. I wish to convey my most sincere condolences to her family and all other loved ones on behalf of the teachers and students of Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle, Sri Lanka.

Condolence message from Mrs. Saraswathi Dahanayaka, former principal,Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya who worked in cooperation with Julia Morris in creating global links between Kineton and Sanghamitta.

It is with great sadness I received the message that the former principal of Kineton High School, Julia Morris passed away. I knew that her condition will not allow her to live a quality life and may be, she was not also prepared to be a burden to all loved ones too.

As thanks giving for life that she lived I would like to speak about Sanghamiththa College, Galle, Sri Lanka. How she was able to spearhead a wonderful student exchange program with Kineton High School.

The vast number of students whose lives changed, whose aspirations changed, whose attitudes towards global cultures changed and whose academic lives changed with better focus and better commitment are some of the fruits of her innovative project and continued until she left the school. We here were greatly appreciating her efforts annually as each batch of students took to air towards UK.

As the former principal who was the other hand to join to complete the exchange program, I know that she was a God sent personality to be a part of my life to create a better knowledgeable personalities to mould future generations of youngsters from my school.

I do wish to extend my gratitude and sympathies to Simon and Morris and to all other loved ones too on behalf of Sanghamiththa College,Galle, Sri Lanka.
