Sangamittians Pay Last Tributes to Veteran Educationalist Dr. Thilokasundari Kariyawasam

Dr. Kariyawasam gave her remarkable service as a principal to the school over 13 years, from 1957 to 1970.

She started her career as an assistant teacher, later became a renowned principal and a prominent personality in the educational administration service, and later became the director general of the National Institute of Education.

She was born on 8th June 1929 and got her primary education in Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya. She entered Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo to get the secondary education and received the Hons degree at the University of Colombo. Later she received doctorate at London University.

The school pays last tributes and the heartiest condolence to the great personality who did a remarkable service to Sanghamitta and the Sri Lankan Education.

Dr. Thilokasundari Kariyawasam passed away at the age of 88.
